Real estate investment trust Healthpeak Properties Inc. plans to expand its local portfolio with a $320 million acquisition of The Post, a redeveloped former U.S. Postal Service distribution center in Waltham that is set to be home to the headquarters of robotics company Boston Dynamics.
Irvine, California-based Healthpeak (NYSE: PEAK) disclosed the purchase agreement in its fourth-quarter earnings release. The Post spans 426,000 square feet and is fully leased to tenants including Boston Dynamics, ElevateBio and Deciphera Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: DCPH).
“The acquisition strengthens Healthpeak’s presence in the Boston market, expanding its footprint to 1.8 million square feet (including Healthpeak’s active and near-term development pipeline),” the REIT said in its fourth-quarter earnings report. “Additionally, the property has the potential for increased density which may be considered at a future date.”
