BU Research on Tap: Diverse Approaches to Understanding and Controlling COVID-19

November 18, 2020 - 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

The COVID-19 pandemic erupted with unprecedented speed. There remains much we do not understand about COVID-19 and the pathogen responsible for causing it, the novel coronavirus now known as SARS-CoV-2. Although this virus was initially thought to be solely respiratory, we now know it is capable of causing a more widespread disease. Given the urgency to understand this pathogen and the disease it causes, BU scientists from a variety of disciplines turned their attention to developing tools to understand the virus and its impact on the cell it infects, identifying therapies to interfere with the viral life cycle, developing models to study the disease process, and developing novel means to detect and inactivate the virus. This session is intended to provide insights into the diverse challenges the SARS-CoV-2 virus presents, and how BU scientists are responding to help control it.
