Arthur and Sandra Irving Cancer Immunology Symposium

June 24 - 8:00 am - June 27 - 5:00 pm

Arthur, Sandra and Sarah Irving together with the Mass General Cancer Center are excited to announce the third annual “Arthur and Sandra Irving Cancer Immunology Symposium” to be held on June 24-27, 2024. The Symposium will bring together about 15 accomplished faculty mentors who are excited to share their discoveries and research career experience in cancer immunology with approximately 45 promising young scientists (post-docs and starting PIs).

Participation in the symposium will provide an opportunity to develop strong ties with senior faculty mentors and learn about the different paths to success in cancer immunology research. Participants will learn how excellent science can be advanced by formulating questions, designing and executing studies to address these questions, hiring, mentoring, collaborating, leadership, raising funds, and publishing. Sessions will cover these and other key areas for a successful research career and include lectures, small discussion/working groups with faculty mentors on specific topics, and review sessions to integrate lessons learned. Participants will also work on updating their research statement to support their next stage of career development.

Starting with their research statement/plan, participants will work on refining research plans and strategies to enable the next stage of their career and beyond. Mentor-mentee relationships will be formed during the symposium and maintained for many years to come.

Applicants are selected by a committee based on the applicant’s research achievements and plans, and recommendations by their mentors.
