SUMMARY:Questrom’s Seventh Annual Health & Life Sciences Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Health & Life Sciences Conference is an annual\, student-organized event that brings together a diverse audience of more than 250 students and professionals across all sectors of the US healthcare industry for valuable networking and comprehensive programming spanning healthcare delivery and hospitals\, to pharmaceuticals and medical devices. \n2019 Health & Life Science Conference  \nDisruption in the Face of Limitation:\nInnovation in an Era of Consumerism and Cost Sensitivity \nAs we approach 2020\, healthcare in the United States still occupies a large percentage of the United States Gross Domestic Product. Growing healthcare expenditures remain to be forecast for the coming years. With many industries embracing disruption through innovation\, can healthcare be targeted with initiatives to creatively decrease costs in the face of rising demand? At the 7th Annual Questrom Health & Life Sciences Conference\, panelists and speakers representing diverse stakeholders in the US healthcare system will engage in discussions around topics at the center of this drive to improve value so that we may begin to understand its impact\, both present and promised. \nTo show our appreciation\, our speakers from past years’ conferences are invited to attend this year’s conference as our guests! SUMMARY:College & Career Exploration Day - Register to Volunteer
DESCRIPTION:Cambridge\, MA is the “hub” of the life sciences industry and provides many opportunities for students in the area to engage in career exploration experiences. MassBioEd recognizes that these same opportunities are not accessible to students in Western\, MA. College & Career Exploration Day allows these students to gain exposure to diverse fields of study and career options in many sectors of the life sciences. \nThis program is a one day event where 40+ volunteers from the life sciences industry mentor high school students through rapid-paced mentoring sessions. Students learn first-hand from industry volunteers about their unique qualifications\, educational backgrounds\, and interests that brought them to biotechnology and the contribution each of their roles make in this evolving industry. \nA mentor should be prepared to: \n\nProvide a brief presentation on what they do in the field\, for what organization\, and how that organization aspires to positively impact lives\,\nDiscuss the life sciences in general and share their own experiences within the field\,\nReflect on their personal journey and how they got to where they are today\,\nAllow time for questions from students\,\nProvide a demonstration or activity.\n\nThe BioTeach team is willing to provide volunteers with any feedback or ideas torwards their presentation and how to engage the students. \nSample Event Schedule: \n\n8:00 am: Registration\n9:00 am: Introduction/ Welcome Note\n9:30 am: Mentor Sessions/ Campus Tours\n11:00 am: Mentor Sessions/ Campus Tours\n12:20 pm: Lunch\n1:00 pm: Evaluations and Dismissal\n\nFor questions\, please contact Kretsy Mondesir at kretsy.mondesir@massbio.org or 617-674-5134.
