SUMMARY:2022 Patient Advocacy Summit
DESCRIPTION:MassBio’s Patient Advocacy Summit showcases the best practices and cutting-edge examples of how life sciences companies can more fully incorporate the patient voice into the work they do throughout the drug development cycle. This year’s event theme is “Supporting the Patient from all Angles: For-Profit\, Non-Profit\, and Government organizations.” Join the patient advocacy community as we explore this topic with keynote addresses\, a panel discussion\, and a professional development workshop for patient advocates. Don’t miss one of our most popular conferences.

SUMMARY:Precision Medicine 2022: The New "Normal"?
DESCRIPTION:This year our annual conference will focus on novel applications as well as long-standing challenges of genetic testing\, a measurement modality central to precision medicine.* While the clinical applications of genetic testing have broadened from a single gene focus to increasingly available whole genome sequencing and genome-wide risk scores\, there remains much confusion around the appropriate evidentiary standards for their use in clinical practice and in R&D. This conference will provide a platform to discuss foundational questions such as the nature of “normal” genetic variation in the context of both established forms of testing and cutting-edge technology. To achieve these goals\, we will convene expert scientists from academia and industry who are developing new applications and technologies of genetic testing as well as laboratory directors and individuals responsible for guidelines on variant interpretation. We will frame these discussions around how best to improve precision medicine for all populations. As we have done in years past\, we will center on elevating the patient voice and building patient engagement.

SUMMARY:15th Annual Inflammatory Bowel Disease: The Art and Science in the Diagnosis and Treatment 2022
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, the Boston IBD conference  brings top gastroenterology specialists from North America together with up-and-coming Boston area specialists for a 1.5 day CME/CNE program. This program is designed to stimulate conversations about how to initiate practice changes within the IBD healthcare team in in the diagnosis and management of patients with Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC).  Through keynote talks\, panel discussions and breakout sessions\, you will be challenged to develop innovative strategies to improve the quality of life for your patients while prolonging clinical remission. The city of Boston provides an excellent backdrop for this educational and networking experience – we hope you can join us in person – or – if you prefer – from the comfort of your home or office through a virtual live stream.

SUMMARY:The Economics of Job Acquisition or “What’s Going On with This Job Market?!”
DESCRIPTION:Is the United States in a recession? Some signals indicate yes\, yet the latest employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is strong evidence against being on the cusp of a looming recession—at least not in the way they’ve historically been experienced. According to BioSpace’s 2022 U.S. Life Sciences State of the Recruitment Market report\, 72% of employers are currently experiencing a decrease in the volume of candidates applying to their jobs. The number of employers who believe the job market favors the candidate is up 31% from 2021 and 70% of employers say it’s taking longer than last year to fill open roles; in fact\, it is taking the majority 2 to 3 months – or longer – to fill open positions. \nSo what’s a growing life sciences organization to do? In this panel our experts will unpack the current trends and share their insight on what the hiring may look like for the last quarter of 2022 and into the new year.
