SUMMARY:Viral Vectors for Gene Therapy – Manufacturing
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\n\nThis course teaches fundamental concepts in viral vectors for gene therapy and how to manufacture them. The course utilizes case studies and laboratory practices to demonstrate critical steps in the production of viral vectors.\n\nInstructors \n\nDavid McNally (MassBiologics)\nPhillip Tai (UMass Medical School)\nShekar Ganesa (MassBiologics)\nSangmook Lee (MassBiologics)\nTom Larkin (MassBiologics)\nMike Pietila (MassBiologics)\nGretchen Gee (MassBiologics)\nMatthew Burak (MassBiologics)\n\nTarget Audience \n\nScientist\, Senior Research Scientist\, Bioprocess Engineer\, or equivalent in Pharmaceuticals\, Biopharmaceuticals\n\nObjective \n\nUnderstand the major viral vector systems used for gene therapy and their advantages and disadvantages\nUnderstand the major expression systems used to manufacture viral vectors for use in gene therapy\nUnderstand the biochemistry of viral vectors\, their quality attributes and how to measure them\nDescribe some common pitfalls to avoid when processing viral vectors\nExecute transient transfection processes for the production of AAV using suspension HEK293 cells and process the material generated using filtration and chromatographic methods\n\nModules \n\nM1. Intro to Viral Vectors and their use in gene therapy\nM2. Upstream processing of Viral Vectors\nM3. Tour of labs and cGMP facility\nM4. Introduction/safety – hands on lab based work\nM5. Hands on lab work – upstream methods\nM6. Downstream processing of Viral Vectors – Chromatography\nM7. Downstream processing of Viral Vectors – Filtration\nM8. SUMMARY:MassBio’s Virtual St. Patrick’s Day Mixer
DESCRIPTION:Get your networking on and raise a pint to this year’s Virtual St. Paddy’s Day Mixer! Get in the festive spirit and wear your green. A prize will be given to the best dressed. Thank you to G&L Scientific for donating a $100 Uber Eats gift card to the winner. We will use Zoom and divide into smaller groups to give everyone the chance to speak and hear from each other. We will have three rounds of networking with a new group of people in each round. We encourage you to come prepared to give a brief intro to your group and we will help by giving prompt questions throughout the event. \nFree for MassBio Members. Registration is required. \nTo inquire about sponsorship opportunities\, contact Lea Cherchia or Jessica Sousa \nDetails for accessing the meeting will be emailed to you the day prior. Users that join the Zoom meeting from the Zoom Mobile App can participate in breakout rooms.
