This unique event showcases current projects and accomplishments of investigators who are paving the way for further discovery and innovation. This year\, we are reimagining Discover Brigham in light of COVID-19 and will be hosting it virtually. We are truly excited for this extraordinary opportunity to reach an even broader population of global citizens\, clinicians\, budding scientists and family members. \nTune in for six must-see sessions presented by Brigham researchers with topics ranging from artificial intelligence at the bedside and the COVID-19 research being conducted in our hospital to a competition among postdocs who will be pitching their research to the public in hopes of winning the $1\,000 prize. The conference will also feature virtually interactive demos and an extensive poster session with over 100 posters. \nWhether you are a fifth-grade student\, media influencer\, or experienced physician\, anyone with an interest in healthcare\, innovation\, or the expansive scope of scientific research\, will be captivated by this profound demonstration of investigative prowess. Dr Ciulli’s laboratory has made important contributions to selective chemical intervention on protein-protein interactions targets and to the development of proteolysis-targeting chimeric molecules (PROTACs) as a viable strategy for targeted protein degradation. Amongst his most significant discoveries are the fragment-based design of ligands for the E3 ligase von Hippel-Lindau (VHL)\, and their use to design one of the first VHL-based PROTACs: the BET degrader MZ1. Dr Ciulli’s Lab later illuminated fundamental insights into PROTACs’ mechanism of action\, solving the first crystal structure of a PROTAC ternary complex. Dr. Ciulli is also the scientific founder of Amphista therapeutics\, a company that develops new protein degradation platforms. \nBefore joining Dundee\, Dr Ciulli was a group leader at the University of Cambridge\, where he previously earned his PhD degree. \nAmongst his honours are the EFMC Prize for Young Medicinal Chemist in Academia\, the RSC Capps Green Zomaya Award in medicinal computational chemistry\, and election as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
